Banggai Cardinalfish with babies, Gilimanuk (Bali, Indonesia)

After 20 days inside the mouth of the father, little Banggai’s Cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni) embryos finally go out from the “shell”. The father will keep them inside the mouth for additional 10 days, assuring that they will be ready to the real world. Anyway, the little fishes are curious and take advantage of the few instant when the father keep the mouth open to have a look on their future life, out into the blue.
